Welcome to IPT 531: Introduction to Open Education!

This website supports the Fall 2020 offering of IPT 531: Introduction to Open Education taught by David Wiley at Brigham Young University. This introductory course focuses on open educational resources (OER), the affordances of OER that underlie their potential to radically improve student learning, and the obstacles preventing OER from fulfilling their potential to radically improve student learning. This course focuses primarily on the US higher education context.

This website contains all the information you need to participate informally in the class. You can read the readings, watch the videos, create and share the artifacts, and participate in the course discussions on blogs, Twitter (#intro2opened), and elsewhere.

To get started, use the links at the top of this page to read the Learning Outcomes, Course Philosophy, Course Technologies, and How the Course Works pages.
